SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa today announced plans to open this Fall, marking the Andaz brand’s first hotel in Scottsdale. Located on 23 acres in Paradise Valley, less than two miles north of Old Town Scottsdale, Scottsdale Fashion Square shopping and renowned Scottsdale dining and entertainment, the resort will feature a unique combination of majestic 50- foot pine trees with giant saguaros and desert wildflowers in a true, “oasis” setting. Featuring incomparable views of nearby Camelback Mountain, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa will offer guests a place to inhabit, explore and create. “We are absolutely thrilled to prepare for the opening of this hotel and to introduce the Andaz brand to our Scottsdale community,” said Scott Mason, general manager of Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa.“This brand is all about connecting guests with the very best of local culture and immersing them in experiences that provide them with new perspective. From our thoughtful design, to our food and beverage offerings, to our immersive guest experiences made possible with local partners, we know that guests who arrive a visitor will depart a local.”
Design and Guestrooms
At the center of the resort, the Guest House is an elegant expression of mid-century modern architecture and will serve as a social gathering place for guests and locals. The architectural design, from Delawie, includes floor-to-ceiling glass walls to highlight the unique and inviting indoor restaurant and lounge spaces. The exterior’s expansive patio spaces will encourage guests to sit and socialize, while the interiors will reflect a mix of modern classics and mid-century interpretations.
The Guest House, which will be a central gathering place, will change as the colors of the surrounding landscape also change throughout the day. Bright, quiet mornings will be a time for guests to reflect and recharge and afternoons and evenings will be for socializing, craft cocktails, unique small plates and the ultimate nightcap.
The mid-century modern guestroom interiors, conceived by EDG Interior Architecture + Design, will be a combination of bright colors, folk art and cultural patterns that draw inspiration from Alexander Girard and other renowned artists and designers of the late 1950s and early 1960s. The bungalow-style guest rooms and suites will range from 350 to 500 square feet and are set in clusters of four to six units.
Individual guest rooms feature front terraces with Spanish style banco seating and contemporary picnic style tables. Comfortable mid-century inspired furnishings and bathrooms will feature large showers with windows and skylights that will fill each space with natural light. Most units also will include private outdoor patios with chaise lounges and lounge chairs.
Amenities and Services
In close proximity to the Guest House patio is the Turquoise Pool. The center of activity in the resort, the Turquoise Pool will feature an expansive sundeck including more than 150 chaise lounges and beds in addition to 13 private cabanas, of which five are connected to guestrooms overlooking the pool. The Turquoise Pool Bar will be the centerpiece of the pool experience, the place for fun food and beverage offerings during the day and parties and events at night.
The Palo Verde Spa & Apothecary will embody the calming and healing qualities of the desert. Featuring an extensive menu of personalized treatments utilizing unique and indigenous ingredients, guests will be encouraged to invent their own concoctions at the Desert Blending Bar. The 12,000 square foot spa will feature four indoor and three outdoor treatment rooms, outdoor hydrotherapy pools, a nail and hair salon, eucalyptus steam rooms, outdoor relaxation lounges and an exclusive private pool for spa guests.
Dining
The resort’s signature restaurant, the Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen, will feature innovative use of plancha cooking techniques by Executive Chef Adam Sheff. From the ultimate breakfast to an eclectic mix of small plates, the menu will showcase the combination of Sheff’s, “urban,” culinary experience with Sonoran inspired flavors and ingredients. The restaurants’ glass box exhibition kitchen will include Chef Sheff’s table, which will beckon guests to become a part of the kitchen culinary experience.
Andaz Studio Spaces
The resort’s event and meeting spaces are designed to engage attendees, encourage innovation and inspire ideas and collaboration. The resort will feature 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting and function spaces, including the 3,900 square foot Foundry Ballroom, the 3,800 square foot Easel and Mural Studios, and four additional working studios ranging in size from 650 to 1,600 square feet. The Studios will feature large windows and glass doors leading to outdoor patios and function spaces, designed to provide unique meeting break and social gathering experiences. More than 36,000 square feet of outdoor event and function spaces will provide extraordinary venues for weddings and groups and events of all sizes.
The Retreat will be a hidden gem within the resort. Located on the southern portion of the resort’s 23 acres, this cluster of 23 guestrooms surround a pool, event and outdoor dining areas and serves as a perfect venue for corporate retreats or destination weddings. Andaz Salon The Andaz Salon program is designed to trigger curiosity and spark a new understanding or unexpected connection to local culture and experiences. As part of this program, the resort has collaborated with Cattle Track Arts & Preservation compound (www.cattletrack.org). Established in the 1930s, Cattle Track is a community where artists live and work among their art and is located less than a mile from the resort. The Cattle Track artist in residence program will allow resort guests to interact with these local artists and craftsman to learn more about painting, pottery and photography techniques, both in the resort’s studio and exterior spaces, as well as at their personal Cattle Track studios.
