Architectural Project Manager/Designer

Delawie is seeking a creative and motivated Architectural Project Manager/Designer with 5-8 years of professional experience.

The person in this position will provide high-level production of construction documentation as well as be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of projects assigned to them. The Project Manager will develop project schedules, estimate staffing requirements, communicate with clients, consultants, and project team members, and navigate local jurisdictions for project requirements and permitting. The person in this role must be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment, must be able to lead a team of junior designers within our unique SoCal office culture.

Qualifications:

  • Architectural license required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in design/project management, with a focus on design and construction documents for hospitality, commercial, corporate and/or educational project types.
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency with Revit required.
  • In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp Modeling, MS Office, MS Project, and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Effective verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Experience working directly with clients

Intermediate Interior Designer

Delawie is seeking a talented Intermediate Designer to join our Interior Design studio. We work in a variety of market sectors, including hospitality, education, corporate, technology, and life sciences. The Intermediate Interior Designer will work under the direction of a Senior Designer and Director of Interiors and expected to perform at a high level with limited oversight. The person filling the position will assist in designing, directing, and coordinating projects, from conceptualization through development and execution in the field. The Intermediate Designer may serve as the lead designer working directly with the Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge in specific situations.


The core responsibilities of the Intermediate Designer include, but are not limited to:

Design

  • Prepare complete designs to meet the client’s program, quality objectives, project constraints as well as Delawie brand of design, with limited supervision.
  • Complete design of designated portions of the project as directed by the Senior Designer.
  • Participate in design presentations. Tasks may include developing design concepts, 3D modeling, elevation renderings, mood board creation, CAD drawings, image research, source materials and furniture, tear sheets, specification pages, sample boards, etc.

Development

  • As directed by the Senior Designer and/or Director of Interiors, lead the team on the development of the design of the project according to the design intent, directives, and client goals.
  • Review documents to ensure they incorporate the design intent.
  • Support and assist junior designers.

Coordination

  • Represent Delawie and the design in consultant coordination and vendor liaison meetings.
  • As directed by the Senior Designer, lead in design coordination between Architecture, FF&E, and graphics, and between owners and consultants.

Documentation

  • Primary team member responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating documentation packages based on Delawie deliverables standards for contract documents.
  • Ensure the production and delivery of quality and timely sets of contract documents including drawings, specifications, budgets, and reports as proscribed by the contract.

Execution

Performs construction administration services including:

  • RFI response and interpretation of contract documents to ensure the design intent.
  • Review submittals, substitutions, and field conditions for conformance with design intent.
  • Attend and report on field visits.
  • Conduct punch lists reviews
  • Resolve problems and issues that arise during construction.

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of post-graduate design experience with significant experience in commercial and hospitality projects. Lab or Hotel design experiences are plus.
  • Demonstrated conceptual approach to design.
  • Design skills from original concept and space planning to schematic and design development through to construction documents and construction administration
  • Basic knowledge of current building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with architectural staff and assist on architectural projects in addition to interior design related tasks.
  • Work directly with architectural staff to coordinate and implement design vision into working drawings.
  • Ability to support multiple projects
  • Persuasive presentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills. Ability to work collaboratively with interior and architectural staff members throughout the firm.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven industry experience with common industry software applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, Spexx specification writing software a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills (narratives, strategy, meeting minutes, proposals, etc.) including the ability to prepare presentation materials.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
