Accounting Manager

Delawie is seeking an experienced and talented Accounting Manager to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will provide both administrative and financial support to our firm by supervising and managing all accounting and financial activities such as financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing.

Qualifications:

  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including Deltek Vision ERP database, payroll, accounts payable, and receivables.
  • Coordinate with outside CPA, and insurance agent on ensuring the timeliness of information for corporate tax returns, year-end tax planning schedules, and insurance risk management.
  • Coordinate State and Local Taxes, Licenses and permits for multiple states.
  • Perform month end and year end close, including preparing and reviewing general ledger accrual journal entries, financial reporting, and GL reconciliation. 
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Maintain and create meaningful project reports to assist project management team with project updates and profitability.
  • Support Principals with financial analysis as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4 years minimum experience in increasingly responsible management role of financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, cash management, project accounting, and contract administration.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or other equivalent ERP software system including advance knowledge of using financial report writer tools preferred.
  • Software technical skills for creating accounting process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, work ethics, and ability to take initiative required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management team.
  • Desire to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Accounting Specialist

Delawie is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will provide both administrative and financial support to our firm by processing accounts payable transactions, handling client billings, and general administrative support to make sure that the office and financial process operates smoothly, accurately, and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in accounting with relevant work experience preferably 3-4 years of more of general accounting or accounts payable experience.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision ERP system or other equivalent system preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills, work ethics, and ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for timely payments, recording sales tax for various states, and assist with bank reconciliations.
  • Research information to provide accurate and timely discrepancy solutions to internal clients and vendors.
  • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and correctly assign general ledger account coding for Accounting Manager posting approval.
  • Reconcile paid and unpaid invoices while maintaining accurate records according to company standards.
  • Monitor account balances, track expenses, prepare analyses of general ledger accounts and assist Accounting Manager with month end closing.
  • Prepare monthly client billing invoices and assist with the follow up on payment status of outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and review the accuracy of sub-consultant contracts ensuring they are compliant to AIA standards, reconciling contract amounts to primary agreement, and obtaining all sub-consultants’ signatures.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the firm and accounting department

Architectural Intern

Delawie is seeking a creative and motivated Architectural Intern from a 2–5-year architecture program.

The Intern trains to assist in the preparation of construction documents in collaboration with project architects, project teams, project managers, associates, and principals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(These duties can be performed daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed)

  • Assist in the administration of project construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Conduct product research selection, and detailing. 
  • Organize and coordinate contract drawings.
  • Ability to gain experience in creating computer or drafted architectural plans (site, floor, roof and reflected ceiling), interior and exterior elevations, building sections, details, and schedules.
  • Produce architectural presentation documents.
  • Perform other non-drafting related office tasks as required. 
  • Provide support to the project team in all aspects of architectural production.
  • Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Assist as required on unusual problems and assignments.

Physical Demands:

  • Communicate with consultants, clients, and other business associates as well as in-house team members.
  • Office work environment, some travel, and some overtime.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Revit training is required, and other computer aided design software is desired

Architectural Project Manager/Designer

Delawie is seeking a creative and motivated Architectural Project Manager/Designer with 5-8 years of professional experience.

The person in this position will provide high-level production of construction documentation as well as be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of projects assigned to them. The Project Manager will develop project schedules, estimate staffing requirements, communicate with clients, consultants, and project team members, and navigate local jurisdictions for project requirements and permitting. The person in this role must be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment, must be able to lead a team of junior designers within our unique SoCal office culture.

Qualifications:

  • Architectural license required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in design/project management, with a focus on design and construction documents for hospitality, commercial, corporate and/or educational project types.
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency with Revit required.
  • In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp Modeling, MS Office, MS Project, and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Effective verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Experience working directly with clients

Architectural Specifications Writer

Delawie is currently seeking to hire a creative and motivated Architectural Specifications Writer with a minimum of ten years’ experience. The person in this position will use his or her technical expertise to collaborate with design team members throughout the design and construction process and be responsible for authoring complete project specifications. Additionally, this person will also be a resource to the team for interpretation of building codes, accessibility requirements, conducting building product research, document reviews, and will need to stay informed of the industry’s ever-changing building technology. The Architectural Specifications Writer will leverage his or her comprehensive understanding of the design and construction process to spearhead the quality control / quality assurance program at Delawie. The person in this role must be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment and support a number of projects at any given time. The Architectural Specifications Writer reports to the Principals. The position has the potential for growth into a role as Director of Technical Services.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application, and manufacturer-supplier
  • Strong knowledge of construction procedures
  • Strong knowledge of building envelope components, interior plans and material requirements of all building and facility types ranging from Type I high rise through Type V projects
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
  • Proficiency in specifications software programs such as MasterSpecs, SPECSINTAC SISGML preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to produce well-coordinated, detail-oriented, fully integrated specifications
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within set deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Understanding of all project delivery methods (design-bid-build, GMP fast track, design-build, IPD) and how these impact the specifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent in appropriate education and experience
  • Construction Specifications Institute certification preferred. (CDT)
  • Minimum 5 years of specifications preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings and other project documents to write and edit specifications
  • Coordinate compliance with project requirements, institutional guidelines, Firm standards, technical conditions, existing laws, rules, and regulations
  • Interpret the project design requirements and translate those requirements into materials, methods, equipment, procedures, installation, and certification testing necessary to provide the narrative descriptions which are used to procure, install, and erect building
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews on projects
  • Coordinate specifications with Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies and specification writing software
  • Assist project managers and architects with material and system constructability reviews
  • Perform product research; assists project designers with material selections
  • Participate in quality management reviews and provide technical advice in design development through construction document phases
  • Assist project architects with shop drawing and product substitution
  • Coordinate and review consultant technical specifications for conformance with Firms standards
  • Develop and maintain relationships with product vendors and subcontractors
  • Assist technical staff in preparing in-office educational seminars
  • Participate in developing and improving Firm document standards and best practice procedures
  • Work with project managers to maintain master specifications deliverable schedule for all projects.

Intern Interior Design

Delawie is currently seeking a creative and inspired Intern Interior Designer from a 2–4-year Interior Design program. The Intern trains to assist in the preparation of design documents in collaboration with project interior designers, architects, project teams, project managers, associates, and principals.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, should be able to communicate well with consultants, clients and other business associates as well as in-house team members. Ability to redline and coordinate construction documentation and lead team towards creative and unique solutions.
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

  • Assist in all aspects of the interior design process and product as needed to support projects undertaken by Delawie and directly by the Interior Design Group

Junior Interior Designer

Delawie is currently seeking a creative and inspired Junior Interior Designer in their San Diego office, minutes from downtown and Mission Bay Park.

Senior Project Architect/Laboratory Planner

Delawie is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Project Architect/Laboratory Planner to join our Life Science studio. The successful candidate will work with a range of client types from private corporate facilities to Federal DoD and higher education research and academic facilities. The Senior Project Architect / Laboratory Planner will have 10+ years of relevant experience in laboratory programming, planning and design for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, biomedical or other research institutions to function as a lead on Laboratory projects in San Diego and across the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with clients, scientists, researchers and related end-users to develop laboratory planning strategies at all levels of detail including new construction and renovations
  • Offers and supports creative laboratory planning, technical design and detailing decisions that are in line with project goals and understands their impact on cost, construction, sustainability and other factors
  • Provide or follow verbal and written instructions to revise, develop and produce plans, elevations and details appropriately
  • Direct and oversee document production in accordance with identified project specific checklists, Delawie standards and QA/QC standard program
  • Promotes firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability
  • Day to day project and client management of laboratory projects from initial planning through construction

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in architecture or related field + 10 years relevant experience in programming, planning of laboratory and high-technology facilities. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered
  • Must be a Licensed Architect in California or have the ability to obtain a California Architectural License
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Related architectural laboratory planning experience
  • Working knowledge and skill set to guide discussions for laboratory room/space development in conjunction with equipment and other technical attributes
  • Ability to work with end users to develop process flows, planning process and critical adjacency of research and laboratory rooms for optimum efficiency and flexibility
  • Leadership experience, including managing client expectations, multi-disciplinary team, and meeting scope/schedule/budget
  • Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, construction documentation, construction administration and code requirements
