401K w/ Company Match:
Under the plan, employees may contribute a part of their salary and defer taxes until retirement. For the first 6% of your salary that you contribute to the retirement plan, Delawie will match 50% of the amount. (Some limitations may apply based on IRS regulations.)

Life Insurance and AD&D:
Delawie provides a group life insurance policy and long term disability insurance at no cost to the employee. Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage. Delawie also offers accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance.

Current Openings:

Architectural Specifications Writer

Delawie is currently seeking to hire a creative and motivated Architectural Specifications Writer with a minimum of ten years’ experience. The person in this position will use his or her technical expertise to collaborate with design team members throughout the design and construction process, be responsible for authoring complete project specifications. Additionally, this person will also be a resource to the team for  interpretation of building codes, accessibility requirements, conduct building product research, document reviews, and stay informed of the industry’s ever-changing building technology. The Architectural Specifications Writer will leverage his or her comprehensive understanding of the design and construction process and spearhead the quality control / quality assurance program at Delawie. The person in this role must be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment and support a number of projects at any given time. The Architectural Specifications Writer reports to the Principals. The position has the potential for growth into a role as Director of Technical Services.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application, and manufacturer-supplier
  • Strong knowledge of construction procedures and
  • Strong knowledge of building envelope components, interior plans and material requirements of all building and facility types ranging from Type 1 high rise through Type V, and large hospitality through institutional work.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical
  • Proficiency in specifications software programs such as MasterSpecs, SPECSINTAC SISGML a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and
  • Ability to produce well-coordinated, detail-oriented, fully integrated
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Understanding of all project delivery methods (design-bid-build, GMP fast track, design-build, IPD) and how these impact the specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent in appropriate education and experience
  • Construction Specifications Institute certification preferred. (CDT)
  • Minimum 5 years of specifications
  • LEED Green Associate preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings and other project documents to write and edit specifications for
  • Coordinate compliance with project requirements, institutional guidelines, Delawie standards, technical conditions, acceptable standards, existing laws, rules, regulations, and
  • Interpret the project design requirements and translate those requirements into materials, methods, equipment, procedures, installation, and certification testing necessary to provide the narrative descriptions which are used to procure, install, and erect building
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects and functions as an internal sustainability resource.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews on project
  • Coordinate specifications with Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies and specification writing software.
  • Assist project managers and architects with material and system constructability
  • Perform product research; assists project designers with material selection and system
  • Participate in quality management reviews and technical advice in design development through construction document phases.
  • Assist project architects with shop drawing and product substitution
  • Coordinate and review consultant technical specifications for conformance with Delawie
  • Act as a risk management resource to other project
  • Develop and maintain relationships with
  • Assist technical staff in preparing in-office educational seminars.
  • Participate in developing and improving Delawie document standards and best practice procedures and bridges the gap between design professionals, specifications, LEED, QA/QC, and construction
  • Work with project managers to maintain master specifications deliverable schedule for all projects.

Office environment, some travel may be required and some overtime required.

Architectural Project Manager/Designer

Delawie is seeking a creative and motivated Architectural Project Manager/Designer with 5-8 years of professional experience.

The person in this position will provide high-level production of construction documentation as well as be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of projects assigned to them. The Project Manager will develop project schedules, estimate staffing requirements, communicate with clients, consultants, and project team members, and navigate local jurisdictions for project requirements and permitting. The person in this role must be comfortable making decisions in a fast paced environment, must be able to lead a team of junior designers within our unique SoCal office culture.

Qualifications:

  • Architectural license required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in design/project management, with a focus on design and construction documents for hospitality, commercial, corporate and/or educational project types.
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency with Revit required.
  • In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp Modeling, MS Office, MS Project, and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Effective verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Experience working directly with clients

Junior Interior Designer

Delawie is currently seeking a creative and inspired Junior Interior Designer in their San Diego office, minutes from downtown and Mission Bay Park.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, should be able to communicate well with consultants, clients and other business associates as well as in-house team members. Ability to redline and coordinate construction documentation, and lead team towards creative and unique solutions.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience completing design and construction documents for hospitality, commercial, and/or corporate.
  • Knowledge of Space Planning, Design Development, Interior Detailing, Finish Selection and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Computer proficient, including; Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp modeling, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office.
  • Effective verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible, collaborative environment.

Interior Designer Admin Assistant

Delawie is currently seeking an Interior Designer Admin Assistant in their San Diego office, minutes from downtown and Mission Bay Park.

The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail and should be able to communicate and work well with Delawie’s Interior Design team. The candidate will work closely with the Interior Design Team on active projects and act as support in a variety of different project related tasks.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand basic functions, look up functions, create and interpret formulas in Excel.
  • Ability or knowledge to look up excel or word capabilities on Google
  • Understand basic Bluebeam or similar program’s functions such as, bookmarking, inserting pages, stapling, etc.
  • Familiarity with Adobe products (InDesign, Acrobat Reader, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with electronic and cloud based filing and project management systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, articulate with a strong attention to detail including proofreading.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work some overtime when needed and be a true team player.
  • Must be quality-minded and self-motivated. A positive “can-do” attitude is essential.
  • Ability to represent the firm well to external organizations, clients and vendors.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Punctuality and dependability are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and distribute complex day to day communications from professionals involved in the construction process.
  • Ability to assist Interior Design Project Managers with creation of programmatic spreadsheets, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Utilize electronic and cloud based filing and project management systems.
  • Type material from written drafts or outlines.
  • Maintains the security of confidential information.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with a variety of other duties as needed such as answering the phone.

Architectural Intern

Delawie is seeking a creative and motivated Architectural Intern with 3-5 years of professional experience.

The Architectural Intern candidate should be able to communicate well with consultants, clients, and other business associates as well as in-house team members. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience completing design and construction documents for hospitality, commercial, military, educational and/or corporate.
  • Proficiency with Revit is an absolute requirement.
  • AutoCAD, SketchUp modeling, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office and preparation of presentation materials is highly desirable.
  • Effective verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills are needed.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture is desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare construction documents in collaboration with Project Architect and Project Team in Revit
  • Collaborate in an innovative and respectful team environment.
  • Prepare presentation documents in SketchUp and/or Revit.
  • Research building and municipal codes for project requirements.
  • Participate in design and project coordination with team and consultants.
  • Attend project and consultant meetings as required in a support role.
  • Assist in researching, organizing, and coordinating project information.
