Delawie Promotes Three Associates to Principal
Irelan, Morita and McGuire Named Delawie Principals
Delawie is pleased to announce the promotion of architects David Irelan, LEED AP, Alison N. Morita, LEED AP and Michael McGuire to Principal. Each bring architectural talent and exceptional leadership skills to the role of Principal as they join the Delawie leadership of: Michael L. Asaro, AIA, LEED AP, Paul E. Schroeder, AIA, Associate DBIA, Frank Ternasky, AIA, LEED AP and Greg McClure, AIA, LEED AP BD+C.

With these advancements, Delawie is poised to continue its success as one of San Diego’s premiere architecture and interior design firms while providing greater mentorship among its design staff and greater attention to the breadth of ongoing projects.
David Irelan, LEED AP
Irelan is the architectural project manager for the five-story Healthpeak Sorrento Gateway life science building in San Diego set for completion this year. He brings his project manager expertise to the Pechanga Development Corporation tenant improvements to the Great Oak Steakhouse and Paisano’s restaurants at Pechanga Resort & Casino and the 250-room Garden Street Hotel in Santa Barbara, Calif. for Dauntless Development.
Irelan has been integral to a variety of Delawie projects throughout his tenure since joining the firm in 2013. He was the project manager of the Pechanga Resort & Casino Expansion encompassing the 700,000-square foot high rise hotel tower. Delawie’s completion of the Naval Special Warfare Basic Training Command on Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (NAB Coronado) had Irelan at the helm.
Irelan was promoted to Senior Associate in 2019. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
Alison N. Morita, LEED AP
Morita is essential to the success of ongoing hospitality projects including the Eldorado Country Club Spa and Fitness Center in Indian Wells, Calif. and the Rancho La Quinta Sports & Fitness Center (La Quinta, Calif.). She also supports the Helen Woodward Animal Center Education Building in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Morita’s expertise in hospitality design is exemplified by the execution of the five-star Montage Healdsburg resort (Healdsburg, Calif.) and Residence Inn Maui Wailea in Maui, Hawaii. She demonstrated her corporate design experience and sustainability focus as project manager for the 8-acre BioLegend campus, including the 135,000-square foot main campus building.
An Associate since 2016, Morita joined Delawie in 2005. She is graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with her Bachelor of Architecture.
Michael McGuire
McGuire returned to Delawie in 2022 supporting several science and technology projects at the firm, including a 44,000-square foot laboratory tenant improvement for BioLegend and an 80,000-square foot research and development lab conversion in San Diego.
His design experience spans corporate, education and hospitality having been instrumental to a several Qualcomm projects including Building N, the centerpiece of the San Diego-based company’s corporate headquarters, Building BA and several tenant improvements as well as Andaz Scottsdale (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and “The Show,” a 2,000-seat performance venue at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
McGuire has more than 27 years of professional experience and has been with Delawie for over a decade. He was promoted to Associate in 2012. McGuire is a graduate of University of Illinois Chicago with a Bachelor of Architecture.
