Pechanga Celebrates First Phase of $285 Million Expansion | East Parking Garage

Delawie is proud to announce that our client, Pechanga Resort & Casino, recently held a grand opening celebration to mark the completion of the new East Parking Garage adjacent to the casino and resort property. The five-level, 2,400-space garage is the first phase of Pechanga’s $285 Million resort expansion to be completed.

“Completion of this garage marks an important milestone in the Pechanga resort expansion,” said Edith Atwood, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation. “This facility replaces and adds to the parking that was displaced with the resort expansion. This new facility is geared with the latest state-of-the-art technology from way-finders to electric charging stations.”

Pechanga elected officials including members of the Pechanga Development Corporation and Tribal Council attended the event, along with members of the media and resort/casino leadership. Delawie’s Principal-in-Charge, M. Andrew Rodrigues, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Executive Vice President, Robert Betz, and team members from International Parking Design were also in attendance.

McCarthy Building Companies broke ground on the new garage in December 2015.  The parking structure is located adjacent to a residential area, and many considerations were made to minimize the impact of the structure to the residents, from the size of the structure to the night lighting. Electronic sensors on each floor communicate available spaces to lights above each stall and to space counter boards for greatest ease of use. These additions help cut down the time guests spend circling for available spots. By November 2017, a moving sidewalk will shuttle guests from the casino facing elevator bank to Pechanga’s main casino entrance.

Delawie was the Design Architect on the project, working with International Parking Design as the Architect-of-Record. The current $285 million resort expansion set to open at the end of the year includes the addition of 568 rooms and suites, 70,000 additional square feet of indoor/outdoor event space, a luxury, two-story spa and salon, a four-acre resort pool complex with eight new pools, two new restaurants, and a now this 2,400-space parking garage. Stay tuned for additional project updates as construction continues to move forward towards completion.
